Where and how do science and technology studies and citizen science come together? An important movement in the development of Science and Technology Studies (STS) is the employment of participatory research, technology development and science communication. These topics are reflected and converge in the field of Citizen Science. This is also where the paths of many people who are involved in STS in one way or another cross. Even the beginnings of the field of so-called citizen science are closely linked to STS, as Alan Irwin’s concept of citizen science serves as an important point of reference. There is also a growing number of science and technology researchers who are investigating citizen science as their research subject. The boundaries between STS and citizen science have always been permeable, so that many mutual influences can be traced. What are the common conceptual, empirical and methodological challenges of current research and practical activities at this interface? Together with Katja Mayer, STS Department at the University of Vienna, Claudia G\u00f6bel organized an interdisciplinary workshop focusing on STS research on, with and through Citizen Science.
